Description
A weathered marble pedestal bearing a Greek inscription stands among the stone ruins of ancient Ephesus in Turkey. The carved block, set against layered masonry and broken architectural fragments, preserves the civic and cultural world in which the early Christian church took root. Ephesus was a major Roman city of commerce, learning, and pagan worship, yet it also became an important center of apostolic ministry through Paul and the community addressed in the Epistle to the Ephesians. The surviving inscription points to the historical setting behind the New Testament record, where the gospel confronted public religion, marketplace life, and imperial culture. Useful for Bible teaching, church history studies, archaeological presentations, and visual resources on the seven churches of Revelation.
